And if you’re thinking about what to do for your comedy intake tonight and want a breather from all this heady competition, wander with all deliberate speed to Local Lounge up on 3436 NE MLK. 8:00pm – 11:00pm
Are you feeling the winter blahs?
If you sit on the couch one more minute will you permanently adhere to the upholstery?
Do you want to commingle with REAL people?
Join comics Belinda Carroll, Marcia Belsky, Shane Torres, Jimmy Newstetter, and host Sterling Clark in a show that will make your face hurt from the use of neglected facial muscles.
We can’t make you rich, we can’t make you tan, we can’t even make you a cheeseburger, but we can make you laugh.
*Yes I said deets! I have no shame in abbreviations! Or in long-winded defenses thereof! None whatsoever, Coalhouse.
If you’re farther norther or looking for something a little more chickly in your comedy night, get yourself and your friends and neighbors over to the Krakow Cafe at 3990 N. Interstate. Tonight is their quasi-monthly women’s & trans open mic event, which I happen to be hosting. This time the hilarious Marcia Belsky will be doing a feature set up front, with glorious open mic to follow. Ladies, trans folk, women characters, etc. – if you feel like gender in any way is keeping you from doing your comedy, then this is the place for you. Superfun, positive and supportive for all, comrades. Just generalized good times all around, starting at 7:30. See you there!
And if all of those comedy shows weren’t convincing enough for you, this one sure as hell should be. Dennis Williams‘s hot-to-trot showcase Keep Portland Funny is back this month with a killer fucking line-up. (It’s the third post of the day, I can curse now, right?)
Catch Salem comedy royalty Ron Funches and Will Woodruff, plus Portland darlings Big Jim Willig, Dylan Kasprzyk, and Marcia Belsky. This show will rock your socks off. There may be wrestling, there may be break dancing, there may be a good deal of awkward sexual advances. In all cases, there will be a good time. All you need is love, and $5, to get into the Knife Shop at Kelly‘s. Show starts at 8pm. See you there, catsups!
