Fall of the Band (Serial Comedy) at Action/Adventure All Thru November!

Holy cow people look at all the comedy in town! It’s exciting, it’s thrilling, it’s new and cool and neat and adjectives all around. This is an especially neat thing that you should definitely check out: a live serial comedy developed right on the spot by some of your favorite folks at Action/Adventure Theatre!

FALL OF THE BAND features a new 60 minute episode every weekend, with four episodes in all, in the ongoing story of a Portland band coming to grips with the loss of its lead singer.  The plot points are drawn by Action/Adventure’s writers but the dialogue is completely improvised by the actors. So cool!!

Last week was episode one but you can still catch any or all of the rest of the episodes. Shows run Fridays at 8 and 10:30, Saturdays at 9, and Sundays at 8 through November 18. Tickets are $12 for the first episode you see and $10 for every show thereafter. Plus Fridays are pay-what-you-want. Can’t be beat, people! Enjoy the magic and awesomeness of live improvised comedy!

Making Sex: A Sketch Comedy Threesome at the Blue Monk Sundays in October

Excellent news for your Sunday nights in October, comedy fans! A sketchtastic show from the makers of Fall of the House called Making Sex: A Sketch Comedy Threesome is hitting the Blue Monk on SE Belmont. Bri Pruett, Matt Hopkins, and Noah Dunham have put together a rad mix of improv, sketch, and featured stand-up acts. Last week’s show featured Comedy is OK mogul Andrew Michaan and was a rousing success, and tonight looks to be the same. Read on, McDuffs:

From the team that brought you Portland-centric “hipster sitcom” Fall of the House, Action/Adventure Theatre presents Making Sex: A Sketch Comedy Threesome. Matt Hopkins (Fall of the House, Working Theater Collective), Noah Dunham (FOTH, Fothing, Working Theater Collective), and Bri Pruett (FOTH, Curious Comedy sketch, Dopamine Improv) are a comedy threesome that you will want to call the next morning.

Making Sex… is a completely original sketch format. The cast presents you with their alter egos and then shows you more than you ever wanted to see! Using improvisation to generate material, Matt, Bri, and Noah play three roommates: Matt, Bri and Noah. They slowly reveal details about their odd, little lives and relationships through storytelling and reenactments. Noah doesn’t cook, ever. Bri is a stripper (not really). And Matt made his own girlfriend out of a pillow. Really.

Every week also features a great local stand-up comedian. Tonight is Sean Jordan, getting geared up to host for Doug Benson at Helium next week. Oct. 17 features Christian Ricketts and Oct. 24 is Ian Karmel. And then to top it all off, there’s a Halloween costume contest slash dance party on Oct. 31! All the shows starts at 8pm. Be sure to czech it out sometime this month, friends.
